Cradled in a scenic valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Fort Ritchie is located in Washington County, Maryland, just south of the Pennsylvania line along the Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway. It is an hour from the major metropolitan areas of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, and 1/2 hour from Frederick and Hagerstown, Maryland.
Fort Ritchie is accessible by a number of public thoroughfares, including Maryland Routes 491 and 550, and Pennsylvania Route 16. Interstate 81 is a short 15-minute drive and Interstate 70 is only 20 minutes away.
Hagerstown Regional Airport, just 35 minutes from Fort Ritchie, offers convenient access for private jet and cargo services. Reagan National and Washington-Dulles airports in Washington D.C., and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport in Baltimore, are an hour and a half drive.
Only five minutes from the Frederick County and Pennsylvania lines, Fort Ritchie is within easy reach of a wide range of residential communities in Washington and Frederick Counties in Maryland, and Adams and Franklin Counties in Pennsylvania. While the population is growing in size and prosperity, the area offers a largely rural and small town setting with breathtaking mountain views, pristine lakes, and plenty of farm land.
